THE TALE OF GENJI - A 1000 year old Japanese novel

The Genji Room. Visitors these days come across a life-size replica of Lady Murasaki in a room next to the main building of Ishiyamadera Temple. A saying goes that she started writing the novel at the same location in a moonlit night of August 1004, after being overwhelmed by the scenic reflection of the moon on the water of the adjacent Lake Biwa.
