I first visited Japan in 2002 and moved to in 2004. It was as if I had come to the edge of the world, as if I had nowhere to go further. A totally different culture which gave me plenty of inspiration for new projects. Initially, I was a complete stranger. Japan had no expectations from me so I had the freedom to be who I felt I was, and to express different aspects of myself, yet to discover hidden stories within this idiosyncratic culture. The result is naturally projected within the above series of photographs.

Greece is the familiar. My identity- my mother land, which I began to comprehend with the distance. Being the commissioned photographer for the 2004 Olympic Games, was my ticket to move to Japan. Seeing Greece from afar, I rediscover it. Many questions were born that I begin to find answers to, by photographing Greece again through the eyes of an almost "stranger".

Photography is my way of life. It has provided me with the opportunity to live the life I’ve always dreamed off. The freedom to travel, to Europe, Asia, Cuba, and many more unique places to capture incredible moments - the current state of humanity. It was my ticket to get into bizarre yet some times dangerous situations and through them to reveal images that express my true connection with what I have experienced. Thus, I grew up learning a lot about the world we live in and I continue to share this in my projects. Light, shadow, colour and action guide me. The knowledge to use the camera at the very ‘right’ moment when all these make sense to me.

Portraiture Every human being is a new history. During a brief photo shoot, I look at my subject, but he/she also looks at me. I try to reveal but to also be revealed. The more open I am, the more easily my model relaxes and he/she gets revealed. Magical results come from the cooperation of the gazes and the intangible connection between the photographer and the person being photographed.

Fantasy and realism are intertwined and infinite new worlds can be born. Fashion is the occasion. A search for expression and experimentation. The importance for succeeding good shoots is to manage to make my camera invisible in front of the models and to erase it from my mind too. It should just be a connection point to the reality around me and not something, which I have to always hide.
